The war on the rich

Hi,

According to a 2017 survey from Fidelity Investments 88 percent of millionaires are self-made. [1] I have so much respect for self-made millionaires but yet there’s apparently a “war on the rich” with slogans such as “eat the rich.” I personally think it’s just profound jealousy in people that worked hard to earn their wealth. What most people don’t realize is that self-made millionaires are millionaires because they lived below their means, made sacrifices that common folk wouldn’t even consider, and worked long hard hours to get where they are. Who am I to have an opinion on how they spend their money? It isn’t my money. I didn’t work for it. They did. So they deserve to do whatever they wish with it (as long as they pay their fair share of taxes).

I believe that it’s easy to watch millionaires do extravagant things while others suffer and die in the world. But it isn’t the job of rich people to save everyone. Free will exists for a reason. People should be left to live their lives in whatever way makes them content. Whether I like it or not.

Thanks for reading.
